New Year's Resolution

Hey Everyone!
So I haven't been here in a bit, but It is my New Years resolution to take a photograph every day. Hopefully I will post at least once if not twice a week. Here I hope to write the story behind each photograph in a letter to my wonderful grandpa as a way to connect him to what I am doing with my life, hopefully every photograph will be something every generation can enjoy. The first two photos aren't too exciting, but its a work in progress!

Day 1

Dearest Pa,

This is a photograph of Ross & I. We sat down for a moment to rest after packing up. I am leaving Austin, but I really am unsure if it is right. I have an empty feeling in my stomach. I will miss Ross dearly, although I can't wait to be closer to you Pa! I am tired: too much packing, goodnight.

Love,
Julia

Day 2 January 2, 2010

Pa,

Today was an even more stressful day. I had so much packing to do and I was really worried about my car situation. I have to get it fixed on Monday and Ross will be driving it up Thursday. I am excited though because my boudoir photoshoot is tomorrow and everything has fallen into place. I am really excited because Brio will be my assistant and I have Sakoiya doing make-up. The pictures from tomorrow should be fabulous! Ross & I decided to hang out in bed and have one last Texas bbq, for now of course! It was delicious and we watched the cute movie "Clueless" It is an awesome movie, I can relate to Cher sometimes I can be a total ditz!

Raymond

Everybody loves Raymond, because he is just so cute, even though he can be bad sometimes I will always love him. My little brother can be tons of fun. I took Raymond and Ross out by an overlook to take some pictures, they are a bit old, but I think he deserves the spotlight!

Ross is sick

So I made him homemade Chicken soup. It was wonderful and even made me feel better, and I wasn't sick!

Hollandaise Sauce, Asparagus, & Chicken... yumm

A few nights ago I made a delicious three course meal, which has become one of my favorites and I plan on bringing back this recipe again.

First you want to gather all the food for your cooking, this makes it less hectic and cluttered later.

And always have a good cutting board and knife:

Don't forget the cookbook!

Hollandaise sauce is delicious and can become quite easy and foolproof if you make it using a blender.

First you get three eggs together:

Then you get the blender and add pepper and 1tb of Lemon Juice:

And of course Butter!

Blend the eggs together
Now you heat the butter very hot, and while the blender is going (make sure to keep the the lid on, with a small opening in the middle) add small amounts of the butter and it should thicken to make the sauce.

While I was doing this I was boiling water, oil, and salt for the Asparagus.

Once the Asparagus is done, you have your first course.

For the side I made prosciutto on hard rolls topped with cheddar cheese. I put them in the oven for ten minutes to let the prosciutto crisp.
Photobucket

Next I started the paprika base for the onions, On the side I also started the cream sauce that I put over the Chicken to contrast the paprika flavor.

Photobucket

The paprika base included Butter, onion, paprika and pepper. I let that simmer for a 8-10 minutes.

The cream sauce has
1/4 cup white stock
1/4 white wine
1 cup whipping Cream
Salt& pepper
Lemon Juice& Parsley to taste.

Step One
Boil down stock and wine
Photobucket

Step Two
Add cream and continue to simmer until it thickens a bit.

Then I put the paprika mix and the chicken on the stove for a minute or two and then in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 400 degrees.
Photobucket

I also made rice that I seasoned with shallots and onion.

Viola! The finished product

Part 2, after tasting, quite yummm...
